10 years

Earlier this month, Kyle & I attended my 10 year high school reunion.  We had it at the House of Blues in Anaheim, by Disney.  A few of my closer friends from high school that I see on a few times a year were also there.  We had a great time catching up with people we hadn't seen in so long.

Grandpa & Grandma Visit!

As I mentioned in the Tahoe post, Kyle's parents came for a visit and watched the girls while we were in Tahoe.  We were able to get in a couple of day trips with them before and after our trip.  Before we went to Tahoe, we took them to downtown LA to see Olvera Street.  We had some really good Mexican food and enjoyed the different culture.  Then we took a drive to Manhattan Beach where we took a walk on the pier.  At the end of the pier, they have a small aquarium, which was perfect for Katelyn.  She was able to touch the starfish!  So exciting for her.  She did it over and over again and liked watching the small sharks swim around.

The day after we returned from Tahoe, we drove up to Lake Arrowhead for a delicious breakfast at the Belgian Wafle House.  Both Kyle & his dad got waffles with ice cream.  I love ice cream, but for breakfast?  No thanks.  We walked around some of the shops and Katelyn had some fun feeding the ducks and playing at the park.  Kyle found a nature trail that was just a few miles away.  Katelyn was able to walk by herself on the trail for the first time.  She loved running ahead of us and showing us different things.  I see a repeat of this trip in the future.

Lake Tahoe

Kyle and I celebrated our 6th wedding anniversary on June 17.  We had always hoped to take a big trip for our 5th anniversary, but Brooklyn was born 3 weeks before, so that was not really an option.  We also decided not to go too far away because I didn't think I could leave the girls for more than 5 days.  So, we decided to go to Lake Tahoe.  Kyle's parents graciously flew out to watch the girls for us.  (The girls had a blast and didn't seem to care too much that we were gone.)

We flew to Sacramento on Monday morning, then rented a car and started our drive to Tahoe.  On the way, we stopped in Kirkwood and did some ZIPLINING on the ski slopes.  We had a really good time.  It was something I have always wanted to do.

We stayed on South Lake Tahoe with our room on the Lake.  Here is the view from our room.

On Tuesday, we hiked by a small lake (Fallen Leaf Lake), then we drove around the lake and found a place to do some Kayaking in the same lake.  After kayaking, we took a drive that was on a ridge and we could see both Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe - it was pretty cool. We also did another short hike to the Angora Lakes.

On Wednesday, we took a drive around the entire Lake Tahoe (72 miles around).  We started by taking a hike by Cascade Lake to the Cascade Waterfall.  Then we drove up to Tahoe City (North West side of lake) and walked around.  We then continued driving and hiked up to a former fire lookout near the stateline.

On Thursday (which was my birthday!), we drove to Emerald bay and took a tour of a summer mansion built in 1929 (Vikingsholm).  Then we drove up to Truckee where we went whitewater rafting!  It was my 3rd time, but Kyle's first.

Friday we drove back to Sacramento and toured the Capital building, Sutter's Fort and the Old Town Sacramento.

A great trip with some great memories!

Happy 4th!

Happy 4th of July! (A couple of days late.)  We had a busy day this past Wednesday.  We started off the day by taking a family trip to see the Ontario parade.  There were a few family members in the parade for Inland Christian Home, which I knew about, but it totally took Katelyn by surprise and she wasn't sure what to think.
I love this picture!
