April 2016 - Week 3

This week had a little bit less excitement than last week.  The contractors started work last Wednesday on our bathrooms, so we have been just hanging out around the house a little more while they are here.

Kyle did take the big girls to see the new Jungle Book movie on Saturday morning and then to lunch at In'N'Out.  They enjoyed the movie, although Kyle mentioned he did have both of them on his lap at one point because they were scared :-).

While they were gone, Madison and I ran a few errands.  It was kinda fun to just have the little one with me.  Although she can still be a handful and she now refuses to ride in the baby part of a shopping cart and then she will also not hold my hand. . . .

My Little Helper.  This is how she is starting to say 'CHEESE' now.

Such a dolly when she isn't being a rascal.

Not much else for this week.  Here is one of Madison having a picnic this morning.  I will post pictures of the bathrooms in a week or two when they are closer to being completed.

Wowzers.  I just looked back through some of my old posts and there are soooo many grammar and spelling errors.  Thanks for just ignoring those.  I have just been trying to get the posts done and put up.  I honestly haven't been reading through them a second time or who knows when they would get posted.

April 2016 - Week 2 ~ Knott's Berry Farm & Walk4Life

Last weekend was a packed full for us.

On Saturday, the day started out with Katelyn losing her first tooth while eating a Poptart for breakfast.

Then we were off to the annual Walk4Life for a local pregnancy clinic, which is a pro-life clinic that supports abortion alternatives and helps pregnant women and new moms.  We walked as a family for the 2nd year.  We did about half of the walk because the return trip was going to be very uphill and we had a big stroller that was a little difficult to push uphill.  Also, one of the kids announced about 10 minutes into the walk that she had to go to the bathroom . . . .  After the walk they had lunch and the girls were able to get their faces painted and play for a little bit.  We had a few drizzles on us, but overall, the weather was pretty nice.

Then we came home and Kyle demoed the second bathtub & surround and took out the vanity from the downstairs bathroom.

Sunday was Kyle's birthday!  We went out to lunch as a family and then came home and had some dessert later in the afternoon.

We just wanted to keep all the excitement going, so Monday we went to Knott's Berry Farm.  We only took the two big girls as Madison would not have been able to go on most of the rides.  It was the first time Kyle or the girls had been there.  The park was not very busy and we had a great day.  We were there when the opened at 10 and left when the closed at 6.  The girls both enjoyed the rollercoasters that their heights allowed them to go on (Katelyn went on a couple more than Brooklyn).  We all really enjoyed the Log Ride.

First Ride of the Day

Brooklyn is at the bottom of this picture, working hard.  Katelyn in the orange shirt.

Me on a roller coaster with Katelyn.  She is the little tuft of hair you can see next to me.

We stopped to see Snoopy on our way out of the park.

How the World should work according to a 6 year-old:
Katelyn recently made the following comment after reading a book about the revolutionary war.  "They could have done something not so dangerous.  They could have played a game and whoever won, won."

April 2016 - Week 1

We just had a normal week around here, so not too many pictures.  Katelyn was excited to be back at School after a week off for Easter Break.

Kyle spent last Saturday morning working on demo for one of our bathtubs.  He will be working on the upstairs one tomorrow.  The contractor is scheduled to come on Tuesday to start work!

Kyle hard at work.  I thought I had more pics of him doing demo.  Sorry it is so blurry.
This morning, after a quick trip to the Library, it had started raining, so I let Madison and Brooklyn run around in it for a little while.  They thought it was great.  Katelyn wanted to stay in the garage with me or be under an umbrella.

That's all I've got.  Short & sweet.

Spring Break & March 2016 - Week 5

This week we celebrated Easter over the weekend and Katelyn has been home all week for Easter Break.  We have tried to do a few fun things, although we haven't been able to do everything we wanted because we have a couple kiddos with colds that I didn't think should go to the kids museum, etc.

This past weekend we had a lot going on.  Last Friday (Good Friday), Katelyn had grandparents day at school, which she had really been looking forward to.  They had a program where the Kindgerteners sang one song and recited their Bible verse for the month (see video below).  It was her first Friday that she had to go to school as she usually only attends Tuesday through Thursday.  So that was a little different for us.  Then that evening we had communion service at church.

On Saturday, we spent a large chunk of the day buying things for our coming bathroom renovation.  We rented a U-haul and went and picked up one bathroom vanity and 2 bathtubs.  Our garage has one stall filled with boxes at the moment, so Kyle's car got bumped outside again.  That seems to happen every time we have a project.  Tomorrow we will be starting demo on one of the bathrooms.

Playing in the trailer before we bought anything.

Saturday afternoon we dyed Easter eggs with the kids, which was fun.  Madison is at the age where she has to do EVERYTHING that her sisters are doing.  She doesn't realize that her age has any limitations.

Sunday was Easter and we had family over to our house after church for lunch outside on the back patio.  It was a beautiful day.  The girls had fun hunting for eggs with their cousin, Micah.

Love these girlies.

We love Micah!

Madison is one of the big kids this year.

Later that day, after all the company had left, we went out front to play for a while and Katelyn finally rode her bike with no training wheels!  It was a pretty big deal for us.
Yes, Katelyn wrote this when I suggested she try riding her bike.  About 2 minutes before she mastered it.
You might want to skip to the last 30 seconds to see her really get it.

On Tuesday, I took the girls to IKEA.  Katelyn was pretty bummed she didn't get to go last time, so she had been asking and I needed to pick something up.  The big girls went to the play area and so I was able to spend an hour with just Madison getting the things I needed.  It was pretty great.  Then we headed to the library, to get our usually 20+ books.  They were having a reading program where the girls had read enough that they each got free burgers at In-N-Out.  So of course, we had to go to In-N-Out for lunch.  I think this was one of my first attempts with all 3 kids at a restaurant by myself.  And it was CRAZY.  It was so busy because 1.)  it is In-N-Out and 2.)  it was spring break for all the schools.  In any case, we had fun, I just probably won't do that every week.
They liked it, even if the picture doesn't show it.

On Wednesday we biked to the shopping center by our house and Katelyn did 2 wheels the entire way.  You would never know she just figured it out.  Then in the afternoon the girls were playing outside and Katelyn figured out how to swing all by herself.  It was a big day on two things we have been working on for a very long time.  Here is a video of her swinging (and singing).  Ignore the last few seconds when I am yelling at the other two kiddos.

Thursday we went to Orange County to see Kyle's work and go out to lunch with him.

Working at Daddy's desk.  (He is on the 8th floor and can see Catalina Island on a clear day.)

Writing on Daddy's white board.
After lunch the girls played on these for a few minutes, even though their mom never gives them money to put in it.

Memories in the making. . . .
