Tee-Pee Camping In Ventura County

A couple weeks ago we took the whole family to Ventura County for a weekend of camping.  We stayed two nights in a Teepee.  We opted for the Teepee because we thought it might be fun for our only vacation of the year and also because I was not about to set up a tent and do all that extra work with 3 little kids.  Staying in a hotel can also be a little challenging as there is no place to go during nap time or after the kids go to bed, so this was perfect for us.

We stopped at a park on the way up for lunch and a little play time.

Our campsite was right in the middle of all the action, which was nice because we could just let the girls go jump on the jumping pillow or play tether-ball while we stayed at our site.

Here are girls by our teepee.
The inside - we had to bring pillows and sleeping bags, but there was a queen bed (on right), a twin bed (on left), and a twin mattress for the floor.  We also brought our pac'n'play for Madison.  The big girls switched who slept on the floor & who had the bed.  They thought it was pretty fun.  The pics below are the last day after we had already packed everything up.

Riding bikes (Katelyn on right and Brooke in front of Kyle)
"Playing" tether-ball - They made friends with the 2 girls camping in the teepee next to us.
The view of the jumping balloon from our campsite (all of the above were taken from our site as well).
Such a good daddy jumping with his kiddos.
Missy Madison hanging out on the blanket outside the teepee.
Swimming in the awesome brand new pool that had a beach walk-in side of it.

Mmmmm - Hot Dogs over the fire.
Watching big sisters play at the playground.
Tallest swings the girls have ever been on - they were huge.  Brooke loved going high,  but I couldn't get a good pic of it.
 Hanging out by the pool.

On Saturday afternoon we went to the harbor area in Ventura and walked around for a while.  We of course had ice cream.  I'm proud to announce that at almost 5 years of age, Katelyn will finally eat ice cream!  Before it had always been too cold, but here she is with VERY brightly colored cotton candy ice cream.

Ice cream face Katelyn - the picture doesn't do it justice.
We always have to stop at EVERY SINGLE ONE of these and take a picture.

The big girls rode the carousel with Mom.

Then we walked across the street to the beach for just a short time and then back to the harbor village for dinner.

As usual, we had a great time camping.  I wish we could do it more, but it seems to take a ton of work.

Because of all our life changes this year, this will be our only vacation.  When Kyle switched jobs, he of course had to start over with vacation time, and prior to that, we had just had a baby, so we weren't too anxious to do any major traveling.  In Kyle's old job, of public accounting, his busiest time was January through May.  With his new job, their year end is 9/30, so he has a week or two left before things get busy and will continue to be busy until about Christmas.  We have been trying to do little day things here and there and we have a pretty exciting day coming up later this week!
